This book provides a fascinating insight into the work of the most famous artist of the 20th century. All of the main works can be seen here in glorious detail; PLUS SOME SURPRISING works which continue to be a mystery to historians. Picasso inspired just about all major artists who came after him and many at his time. This work is presented in an accessible way with commentary which is informative. The author does not look down on the reader. Great Stuff! Highly commendable.

Written with a comprehensive introduction, essential Picasso looks at all aspects of Picasso’s art, with detailed commentory on 100’s of his works. Most of the expected and well known works, but what really sets this book apart is the inclusion of lesser known paintings. Laura Payne’s commentary is enthusiastic yet discerning. Often insightfull. & all the works are illustrated in large-format full colour!
